Printing in wartime
March 11th - August 26th 2012
In the Second Worldwar nothing was more important and harder to get than information. Both the enemy and the allied forces tried to keep their people informed through newspapers, magazines, posters and flyers. The difference between propaganda and proper news wasn't always easy to see. The underground tried to get hold of news by listening to the BBC radio and spreading illegal newspapers.
The exhibition 'Printing in wartime' is about obtaining news, printing news and spreading news in the Netherlands in WW II and specifically in Groningen. What was the difference between the information of the allied forces and of the Germans? What kind of propaganda tools were used and how were illegal newspapers spread?
You'll find out in this impressive exhibition that will be made together with the OVCG (Centre for War and Underground in Groningen).
